Lagoon Pumpout
Lagoon
Pumpout continues to be a mainstay of the Council's conservation equipment
rental program. Thought to be a temporary program, it is now
self-sustaining and in its 13th year of operation. The Piedmont Soil and
Water Conservation District (SWCD), which serves major dairy producing
counties of Putnam, Morgan and Greene Counties, assists the Council with
the administration of the lagoon pumpout program. Last year, the Council
served 19 farms with pumpout assistance. Pumpout operators pumped a total
of 990 hours. Please contact the Piedmont SWCD to schedule the equipment.

Hydroseeding
Hydroseeding
is an ideal planting method to treat critical erosion problems associated
with road banks, construction sites, and steep slopes. The Council's
hydroseeding program was designed to meet the needs of and help stop
erosion problems for small landowners and units of government. With the
educational and resource objectives of the Council's program complete,
operation of the hydroseeding equipment has been transferred to an
independent contractor. Please contact the operator to schedule the
equipment.

No-till Planting
Conservation
tillage is recognized nationwide for its positive effects on soil and
water quality. For the environment, conservation tillage reduces soil
erosion. For the producer, conservation tillage improves the bottom line
of production by reducing fuel consumption and the cost of labor. The
educational and resource objectives of this program have been met.
Previously associated with the
Council's no-till program, the operators listed below continue to provide
no-till planting services as independent contractors. Please contact the
operators to schedule the equipment.
